In 2009, the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) engaged Bullseye to migrate their existing content over to a Sitecore Content Management System (CMS). To take advantage of the capabilities on offer from the new CMS, specifically Sitecore’s Online Marketing Suite (OMS), the Student Management Division decided to update the Future Students section of the USQ website to enable them to better engage potential students and track their on-site activities.

Bullseye created and implemented tools that gave the Student Management Division of USQ a greater understanding of the potential student’s objectives and goals. This allowed the university to better serve prospective students with information that compellingly supported their assessment of USQ as a possible university through which to undertake their studies.


OUR APPROACH

In order to capture the interest of potential students, as well as create a personal connection with them, it was necessary to update the functionality and the look and feel of the Future Students area of the USQ website. To define the requirements, Bullseye provided the following consulting services:

  • Conceptual modelling to outline how USQ could engage future students through interaction online.
  • Research into the needs of future students and requirements of USQ.
  • Presentation of a validated and prioritised set of elements and experiences Recommended new site structure (IA
  • Wireframes that illustrated look and feel of user experience. (These wireframes were used by USQ’s design agency to develop conceptual designs). 
  • Recommended configuration of Sitecore Online Marketing Suite (OMS), including metrics.

  • The consulting outcomes assisted Bullseye to build a model for behavioural targeting, which assists the university to form a relationship with the prospective student during the recruitment period. Bullseye also implemented tools that gave USQ a greater understanding of the potential student’s objectives and goals by mapping the prospective journey through the site and establishing assumptions based on these interactions.

THE RESULTS
  • Bullseye established the digital objectives, defined clear requirements, delivered sophisticated modelling, and designed relevant, intuitive user interfaces.

  • The Future Students site is built around the requirements of future students. It is no longer a site of information structured around the larger organisation. Site content and ongoing communication with this valuable audience is now persona-driven.

  • The site has just gone live and the client loves the initial results.
